What is Peel Sports Medicine?
Peel Sports Medicine is a doctor led practice that aims to help make you better. Be that through injury management, concussion assessment, nutritional advice or a physical.
Why did we start Peel Sports Medicine?
We are passionate about health and fitness and felt we could provide a service missing in the Mandurah area. We want to help get people fitter. We aim to achieve this by facilitating return to exercise through injury treatment, helping you fuel right with our nutrition advice and making sure you are safe to participate in sport.
What does Peel Sports Medicine specialise in?
We have several areas of expertise. Firstly we specialise in injury assessment, diagnosis and developing management plans. By having an expert manage your journey from start to finish you can be sure you are on the right path. Some injuries require help to get better or to allow you to regain function this can often be through steroid injections. In our practice we can perform most steroid injections on site. Prior to any injection an initial appointment is required to confirm it is the best treatment for you.
We also specialise in concussion. Head injuries can have serious consequences and lead to chronic problems. Getting the right management is the key to a safe recovery and return to sport.
The nutrition side of our practice does everything from one-off assessments right through to meal planning and weight management. The importance of fuelling right cannot be underestimated.
Who is Peel Sports Medicine for?
Everyone. We are not exclusively a medical service for elite athletes but a practice dedicated to anyone who wants to get better.
How is ultrasound used at Peel Sports Medicine?
Ultrasound is used in room by Dr Ryan to aid diagnosis. Whilst nothing replaces a thorough history and examination, ultrasound compliments them. It can confirm a diagnosis on the spot allowing early treatment planning. A formal ultrasound may also be arranged in complex cases.
Does Peel Sports Medicine offer rebates?
We do not offer Medicare rebates. We exist outside of the constraints of Medicare because we want to deliver a service based on quality not quantity. By existing as a purely private practice we can have longer appointments allowing ample time for you to be heard and your issue assessed. We can then plan the next step together and ensure you get the treatment you deserve.
Unfortunately private insurance does not cover doctor appointments as an outpatient. It is for inpatient medical services. It can, however, be used for allied health providers such as physiotherapy, chiropractor etc.
